Our Care Home

We specially designed our care home to create the best possible environment for residents dealing with the challenges of dementia, while retaining a sense of their own identity. We believe in dignity and respect, and have a dedicated team of professionals to take care of every aspect of our residents’ health and wellbeing to make sure they feel and look their best. We also have a nurse call system throughout the home.

Our dedicated medical professionals

We work very closely with doctors and staff at the Waterside Medical Centre and The Elms Practice GP Surgeries which are just minutes away from us. Visiting District Nurses and The Care Home Team are on hand for daily support, while the Older People’s Mental Health Service and Adult Social Services help us meet residents individual needs.

Opticians, dentists and chiropodists all visit Blossom House regularly and in times of emergency. Visioncall provide expert eyecare to all our residents’, while our chiropodist Carol Stevens offers residents a friendly chat while seeing to their podiatry needs. Residents can also enjoy having their hair done regularly by a professional hairdresser.

Personal care

  • 24 Hour Residential Care
We offer personal care and support to each one of our residents to ensure they enjoy a fulfilling quality of life. Through a personalised care and support plan which we prepare with each resident and their family, we make sure we know about their individual needs, likes and dislikes, so we can help them to be happy, healthy and comfortable. We also encourage our residents to maintain their independence where and when it is possible, to give them dignity and respect.
  • Dementia Care
We offer specialist dementia care and our highly trained staff have the skills and knowledge they need to provide the best possible care and support to residents.
  • Respite/Short Stay Care
We understand that caring for someone at home, although very rewarding, can be tiring and demanding. In these situations a break can do everyone good. We offer respite stays which give the carer some time to themselves and the chance to relax, feeling reassured that their loved one is being well looked after. At the same time, respite gives the person staying with us an opportunity to meet new people and take part in our activities. Think of it as a holiday for all.
  • Day Care
We understand how hard it can be for a person and their loved ones when the need to move to a care home approaches. If a person is not quite ready for residential care, but their carer needs some support in looking after them, day care offers benefits to all concerned. Our day care residents receive the same level of care and attention as our fulltime residents, as they try out living within a care home setting, while their carers or families begin to adjust to possible changes.
